Points shown on meet results
There are many different types of point systems shown on Swimcloud because there are many different point scales used by various swimming governing bodies.
When viewing meet results, Swimcloud will show a Performance Points score for a swim based on one of four point systems:
- USA Swimming's PowerPoints - These scores are shown for US-based club meets
- Collegiate Points - These scores are shown for Collegiate meets and are based on the US Open Record
- FINA Points - These scores are shown for club meets outside of the US and are based on the World Record
- NISCA Points - These scores are shown for High School meets in the US and are based on NISCA's proprietary point system.
You can also tell what point system is being used when you hover your mouse over the column header.
Each of these three point systems has a different scale and also a different base time which makes comparisons between systems confusing.
Points on a Swimcloud swimmer profile
Swimcloud has developed our own proprietary point system. We feel strongly that our system is a fair way to measure and compare swimmers across events, ages, and regions.
As such, Swimcloud's point system for swimmer profiles doesn't match the points shown on a meet result.
